Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The Carpal tunnel syndrome

Have heard about this syndrome? For our information, there is a syndrome that anyone could not imagine to have - Carpal tunnel syndrome. This is a healthy precaution to everybody especially to those people who always use the computers.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), or median neuropathy at the wrist, is a medical condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to paresthesias, numbness and muscle weakness in the hand. we must take good care of our wrist while using the keyboard and mouse of our computer. Long term repetitive action stress can lead to Carpal Tunnel. As a result, you could end up going under a surgery that looks like this:

You want to be like that? :(

So, if you don't want this to happen to you, here are some correct postures which should be used while using a computer to reduce stress and other ill effects.

Here are also some exercises for relief from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:

When doing each of these exercises, the hand should be flexed until a sensation of stretching is felt in the arm. The position should be held for 10 to 15 seconds for each of 10 repetitions. Try to this set of exercises three times a day.

I think it is important to remember, when we are talking about any arm/hand numbing in any nerve distribution, to have someone take a look at the other areas in the upper extremity where the nerve can be entrapped (the median nerve in "carpal tunnel syndrome")

Many times an area of scar tissue build up can be found where the nerve is entrapped (in the neck, shoulder, arm and especially forearm). You need to get rid of this scar tissue to resolve the problem, such as Active Release Technique (ART). Usually you can find a huge decrease in your pain within about 4 treatments.
